DARTMOUTH, Mass. – December 18, 2025 – After the holiday season winds down, Dartmouth residents have options for what to do with their real Christmas trees, artificial trees, and wreaths.

WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR REAL CHRISTMAS TREE
Real Christmas trees are chipped and used as beneficial cover at the Crapo Hill Landfill. For either option below:
- Do not place trees in plastic bags.
- Remove all ornaments, lights, stands, and tinsel.
Curbside Collection (SMART Program Participants)
Real Christmas trees will be collected on your regular trash pickup day (by a separate truck) during the weeks of January 5 and January 12.
- Collection begins at 7 a.m.
- The schedule may change due to weather conditions.
Drop-Off Option
Residents may drop off real Christmas trees in the brush area at the Department of Public Works/Water Pollution Control Facility, located at 759 Russells Mills Road.
- Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.; Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
- Closed Wednesdays. Permit required.
WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR ARTIFICIAL CHRISTMAS TREE OR WREATH
For an artificial tree or wreath, reuse, share, or place in the trash.
HOLIDAY COLLECTION SCHEDULE
There will be no solid waste or recycling collection on Thursday, December 25, 2025, and Thursday, January 1, 2026. The Thursday route will be collected on Friday during those weeks.
