Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Days

Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Days are held twice a year – in the spring and fall. The next Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Day is on May 3, 2025 at the Crapo Hill Landfill, 300 Samuel Barnet Blvd. New Bedford, from 8:30 am to noon.

Sign up is required. A month before the event, visit this page for a link to select a time slot.

The event is for New Bedford, Dartmouth, and Freetown residents only. Proof of residency is required. Collection is for households only. No businesses, schools, or contractors.

The maximum amount you can bring is 25 gallons or 25 pounds.

  • New Bedford residents can call the City of New Bedford’s Department of Facilities and Fleet Management at (508) 979-1520.
  • Dartmouth residents can call the Town of Dartmouth’s Department of Public Works at (508) 999-0740.
  • Freetown residents can call the Freetown Transfer Station at (508) 644-2202 Ext 3.

 

Directions to Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Day

The event takes place at the Crapo Hill Landfill, 300 Samuel Barnet Blvd., New Bedford. Please take 7 off Route 140 and enter through the New Bedford Business Park on Braley Road. Once you enter the park, you will pass the Registry of Motor Vehicles on your left. Follow the lawn signs that will be posted to help guide you through the business park to the landfill.

**Please note that traffic flows in one direction at this event; the only way to enter is through the New Bedford Business Park.

 

On the Day of the Event:

  1. Please remember the event will be held rain or shine.
  2. Arrive as close to your time slot as possible to reduce wait times.
  3. Place household hazardous waste in the trunk, pickup truck bed, or back of SUV.
  4. Be prepared to show proof of residency.
  5. Stay in your vehicle.
